PI(4,5)P₂ Regulates Cytokinesis and Drug Response in Candida

The study reveals that PI(4,5)P₂ regulation by Irs4p and Inp51p is crucial for proper cytokinesis and drug response in Candida albicans. Deleting either gene causes abnormal PI(4,5)P₂ patches at division sites, which co-localize with actomyosin components and Rho1p. These patches are also induced transiently by caspofungin. The findings highlight PI(4,5)P₂’s essential role in cytokinesis and antifungal stress adaptation.
