
A systematic review of nine studies found mixed associations between placental malperfusion and neurodevelopmental outcomes in children up to 8 years old. While maternal vascular malperfusion (MVM) correlated with poorer neurodevelopment in some cases, findings on fetal vascular malperfusion (FVM) varied. The study highlights the need for more rigorous research to clarify these links.
