PO and CFPO Outperform Other Surgeries for Spastic Hip in CP

A systematic review and meta-analysis of 6116 hips from 4546 patients with cerebral palsy (CP) revealed that pelvic osteotomy (PO) and combined femoral and pelvic osteotomy (CFPO) offer superior radiological outcomes compared to femoral osteotomy (FO) and soft tissue surgery (STS). PO significantly improved the center-edge angle (CEA) and acetabular index (AI), while CFPO showed improvements in AI, migration percentage (MP), and other key parameters. The findings suggest PO and CFPO are especially effective for complex cases of spastic hip deformity in CP, where other procedures like FO or STS may be less effective.
