Polygenic Risk Scores Enhance Prostate Cancer Detection and Screening

In a study of 40,292 participants, individuals in the top 10% for prostate cancer risk, as determined by PRS, underwent MRI and biopsy, revealing prostate cancer in 40% of cases. Of these, over half had intermediate or higher-risk cancers, which would have been missed with traditional screening methods based on PSA or MRI alone. The approach highlights the potential for better detection of clinically significant prostate cancer.
