Positive Outcomes in Treating Peri-Implant Soft Tissue Defects

This study assessed the long-term success of a surgical approach to treating shallow isolated peri-implant soft-tissue dehiscences (PSTD) at single tooth-level dental implants. The study involved 16 patients with maxillary buccal soft-tissue defects around dental implants. A minimally invasive surgical technique involving connective tissue grafting was used to address the defects, followed by a personalized peri-implant care program. The results showed that 12 patients completed the 10-year examination, demonstrating remarkable success with PSTD coverage achieved in 58% of cases. Stable peri-implant parameters were maintained throughout the study, and aesthetic improvements persisted over the long term.
