Experimental data show that during urinary tract obstruction (UTO), PPARγ is upregulated and activated in uroplakin-expressing renal urothelial cells. In a UUO model, uroplakin downregulation, increased cell proliferation, and gene reprogramming (168 DEGs) were observed. Lineage tracing confirmed re-expression of uroplakin, implicating PPARγ as a key regulator and promising target for future UTO interventions.
