Precision Approaches to Heart Failure: Role of Patient Phenotype Profiling in Guiding Treatment Decisions

Precision Approaches to Heart Failure: Role of Patient Phenotype Profiling in Guiding Treatment Decisions

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) constitutes a complex clinical condition affected by multiple factors in its development and progression. The condition stemmed from diverse sources like cardiovascular, metabolic, pulmonary, renal, and geriatric issues, leading to left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. An effective strategy for managing HFpEF involved personalized treatment approaches besides using sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors. A collaborative effort between the Heart Failure Association of the ESC, EHRA, and ESH formulated an algorithm. This approach centred on HFpEF phenotypes and recommended tailored evidence-based treatments, accounting for intricate comorbidities and medication challenges, offering the potential to enhance outcomes.
