Predictive value of risk factors for bladder dysfunction in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

A Shenzhen Hospital, Southern Medical University, China study aimed to identify risk factors and develop a predictive model for diabetic bladder dysfunction (DBD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The study involved 211 T2DM patients, separating them into groups of DBD (n=101) and non-DBD (n=110). Factors like age, diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), urinary microalbumin (mALB), red and white blood cell counts, and monocyte percentage were analyzed. Age, DPN, HbA1c, and absolute neutrophil count (ANC) emerged as independent DBD risk factors. The prediction model's accuracy surpassed individual risk factors, showing promise for early DBD detection.
