A systematic review and meta-analysis reveal that 27.85% of pregnant women in Ethiopia experience depression, with the Harari region reporting the highest prevalence at 37.44%. Factors such as unplanned pregnancies, low social support, and intimate partner violence are associated with higher rates of depression. The findings underscore the need for policies integrating counseling into prenatal care to improve maternal well-being and family dynamics. With mental health affecting a significant portion of the population, addressing depression during pregnancy is crucial for the overall health of communities and the nation.
