Prepregnancy Healthy Lifestyle and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes

This study analyzes data from the Nurses' Health Study II, investigating the link between pre-pregnancy healthy lifestyle factors and adverse pregnancy outcomes. The study examined 15,509 women with 27,135 pregnancies and identified a dose-dependent inverse association between six low-risk factors and adverse outcomes, with a 37% lower risk for those with all six factors. Healthy BMI, diet quality, and multivitamin use show the strongest associations. Overall, adopting all six factors could potentially prevent 19% of adverse pregnancy outcomes, highlighting the significance of pre-pregnancy healthy lifestyles.
