This study examined the colonization of Candida spp. fungi in patients with peri-implantitis undergoing supportive peri-implant therapy. Candida spp. colonization was analyzed in samples taken from the peri-implant sulcus. Fungal growth was observed in 28% of oral rinse samples and 6.75% of peri-implant fluid samples, with no significant differences between the study groups. The most common Candida species were Candida albicans and Candida parapsilosis. The presence of Candida spp. was associated with total edentulism and specific types of implant prostheses. The study suggests no direct link between PI and Candida presence in patients undergoing regular supportive therapy.
