In Finland, reduced distance visual acuity (VA) was found in 3.1% of adults in 2017, associated with factors such as older age, lower education, insufficient income, and poor lifestyle. Of those with reduced VA, 1.8% had undercorrected refractive error, with factors like younger age, smoking, and worse health-related quality of life (HRQoL) linked to undercorrection. Two-thirds of those with reduced VA did not have updated spectacles, highlighting the need for better refractive correction management.
