Prevalence and Risk factors for Early Complications in Acute Severe Ulcerative Colitis

In a retrospective analysis of 150 patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASUC) admissions, this study explored early complications within 90 days. Of 186 admissions, 54.3% required rescue therapy, with 63.2% experiencing medical and 36.8% surgical complications. Low serum albumin, older age, and higher comorbidity scores were associated with complications, while infliximab induction dose intensity showed no increased risk. The study provides valuable insights into ASUC complications, emphasizing risk factors like albumin levels and age.
