A recent cross-sectional study analyzed live birth data from 2016 to 2021 to determine the prevalence and trends of isolated cleft lip with or without cleft palate (CL/P) in the United States. The study, using data from the National Center for Health Statistics, found a total prevalence of 4.88 per 10,000 live births, with a higher prevalence in males (5.96) compared to females (3.75). The prevalence showed no consistent linear trend during the study period. Significant risk factors for CL/P included maternal age, smoking, extreme obesity, pre-pregnancy hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and assisted reproductive technology usage.
