Prevalence of Apical Periodontitis in Psoriasis Vulgaris Patients

The study evaluates the prevalence of apical periodontitis (AP) and caries in 152 psoriasis vulgaris patients. It finds that subjects with severe or moderate psoriasis (based on the Psoriasis Area Severity Index) have a significantly higher prevalence of AP than those with mild psoriasis. The study suggests that psoriasis may contribute to AP pathogenesis, while no correlation with caries experience was observed. The type of psoriasis medication did not significantly affect AP prevalence.
