Prevalence of heavy menstrual bleeding and associations with physical health and wellbeing

A study sheds light on heavy menstrual bleeding's prevalence and its health impacts in low and middle-income countries (LMICs). Among 4,828 surveyed women, 48.6% suffered from heavy menstrual bleeding, affecting their quality of life. The issue was most pronounced in Kathmandu (77.6%) and least in Dakar (38.3%) and Kampala (38.4%). This condition was linked to fatigue and poor self-rated physical health. The findings underscore the urgent need for better understanding and solutions to address this widespread concern.
