A recent study reveals a rising prevalence of urolithiasis (kidney stones) in China. Conducted across 22 provinces, it found an overall prevalence of 8.1%. Kidney stones were most common, followed by ureteral calculi, urethral, and bladder stones. Higher rates were observed in eastern developed areas and among males. However, gender disparities have decreased since 2006. The study emphasizes the need for more comprehensive investigations, especially in underscreened regions. This underscores the importance of early detection and intervention in managing urolithiasis in China's diverse population.
