A study analyzed pediatric patients with RPA to identify factors associated with successful surgical intervention. Of 245 patients, 65% received surgery, while 35% were treated with antibiotics. Rim enhancement on CT imaging was strongly associated with surgical drainage. Clinical symptoms were not predictive of surgical outcomes. Medical management showed a high success rate, with shorter hospital stays than surgical treatment.
