This study aimed to determine whether CHD physiologic stage improved predictive power (to predict all-cause mortality) beyond conventional clinical risk models. Of 5321 patients, 1649 (31%), 1968 (37%), 1224 (23%), and 480 (9%) were in stages A, B, C, and D at baseline. The CHD physiologic stage can potentially be used for risk stratification and to monitor disease progression and response to therapy.

Reported effects include reduced testosterone, sperm concentration and motility, abnormal morphology and increased DNA fragmentation, highlighting the need for fertility counseling and monitoring.
