Beacon Therapeutics presented interim results of the Phase 2 SKYLINE trial for X-linked retinitis pigmentosa (XLRP) at the 47th Annual Macula Society Meeting. AGTC-501, a gene therapy, showed promise with a 63% response rate in high-dose treated eyes. Low-dose results were comparable to untreated eyes. AGTC-501, expressing RPGR protein, aims to improve both rod and cone photoreceptors' function. The therapy demonstrated a favourable safety profile and significant visual function improvement. Beacon plans to initiate Phase 2/3 VISTA trial in 2024.
