Patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and proteinuria of 1 g per day or greater are at risk of kidney disease progression. New findings from a prespecified interim analysis of the PROTECT trial, presented at the World Congress of Nephrology 2023 and published in the Lancet, demonstrate that the dual endothelin and angiotensin receptor antagonist, sparsentan, has greater antiproteinuric effects than that of the angiotensin-receptor blocker, irbesartan.
