A recent prospective cohort study investigated adverse outcomes in 202 singleton women with severe pre-eclampsia (SPE). Stratified by urine protein-creatinine ratio (UPCR), the study found that 34.65% experienced adverse maternal outcomes, while 75.74% faced adverse perinatal outcomes. Severe and massive proteinuria correlated with adverse perinatal outcomes. The study suggests that significant proteinuria in SPE cases poses a risk for chronic renal dysfunction, emphasizing the need for postpartum follow-up. The findings underscore the importance of monitoring and managing SPE complications.
