PTSD Treatment with Propranolol Alters Brain Connectivity

A study of 30 PTSD patients revealed that traumatic memory reactivation under propranolol increased resting-state connectivity between the hippocampus and parahippocampal gyrus—changes not seen with placebo. Improvements in PTSD symptoms also linked to enhanced connectivity in memory and emotion regions. Results suggest propranolol may uniquely affect brain pathways during PTSD therapy.
