Quality Indicator Development in OHNS: Gaps and Future Directions

In a review of 10,592 studies, only 25 developed novel quality indicators for otolaryngology–head and neck surgery (OHNS), mainly in otology, pediatrics, and head and neck surgery. Patient engagement was rare, reporting of consensus methods was often poor, and validation was uncommon. Future research must enhance methodology, emphasize structure and process indicators, optimize expert panels, and strengthen validation to truly improve healthcare quality in OHNS.
