In a recent study focusing on Age-related vocal atrophy (ARVA) and its impact on voice quality, the study examined the effects of bilateral medialization thyroplasty on patients with ARVA. The study included 15 ARVA patients who underwent the procedure, and the results were promising. Following thyroplasty, significant improvements were observed in vocal fold bowing, glottal gap area, and overall voice quality. The study found a strong correlation between these morphological changes and voice quality improvements, suggesting that quantitative evaluation of vocal fold morphology could aid in assessing and treating ARVA patients.
