A population-based study of 83,811 RA patients found a 12% higher risk of avoidable hospitalizations—particularly for heart failure and pulmonary edema (IRR 1.12, 95% CI 1.01–1.25)—compared to 190,304 matched controls. Risk factors included age, glucocorticoid use, and ACSC comorbidities (HR 10.1). Findings highlight the need for better ambulatory care access to reduce strain on hospitals.
