Radial Access Superior to Femoral in Coronary Procedures, Study Finds

The study evaluated procedural outcomes using femoral, radial, distal radial, and ulnar access sites in patients undergoing coronary angiography or PCI. A meta-analysis of 47 trials with 38,924 patients showed that radial access significantly reduced major bleeding risk (OR, 0.46) and access site hematoma (OR, 0.34) compared to femoral access. Distal radial and ulnar access also showed lower hematoma risks compared to femoral, supporting guidelines recommending radial access.
