A recent retrospective cohort study investigated furosemide diuretic tolerance in infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). The study examined fluid balance over 72 hours and observed a rapid decline in diuretic response, indicative of tolerance development. Thiazide co-administration showed no modification in this trend. Weight fluctuations were also noted. This highlights the need for cautious consideration of diuretic efficacy in BPD infants. The study calls for further research to establish optimal furosemide dosage strategies for this vulnerable population.
