Real‐world evidence for oncological outcomes after radiotherapy or surgery for T1a‐T1b glottic squamous cell carcinoma

A recent cohort study analyzed outcomes of 888 T1 glottic squamous cell carcinoma (T1GSCC) patients (1999-2020). Five and ten-year survival rates were 76% vs. 71% and 60% vs. 52% for surgery (S) vs. radiotherapy (RT), respectively (p=0.02). Subgroup analysis favored S for T1b, male, and public service patients. Propensity-score matched cohort showed no significant survival, cancer-specific survival, or local control difference between S and RT. In conclusion, T1GSCC exhibits positive outcomes with both treatment option.
