Redefining 18F DCFPyl PSMA‐PET detected local recurrence from radical prostatectomy histopathology

A study aimed to assess the correlation between histopathological features and the location of local recurrences in patients with biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy. The study analyzed a cohort of 24 patients who had undergone 18F‐DCFPyL PET scans. The results showed that there was 100% concordance in the left to right plane and 79% concordance three-dimensionally between tumor location and local recurrence. Additionally, 63% of patients with extra-prostatic extension (EPE) and 55.5% of patients with positive surgical margins had three-dimensional concordance between their pathology and local recurrence. The study concluded that local recurrence is highly consistent with the original tumor location while predicting recurrence based on EPE and positive margins is less reliable.
