This study investigated the psychosocial well-being of children with mothers diagnosed with early-onset breast cancer, a demographic often comprising mothers with young children. Analyzing 496 children aged 4–15 years old, the study found that while mean scores were below thresholds for psychosocial deficits, deviations were notable, particularly in emotional problems. Approximately one in ten children exhibited high deficits, and one in five showed very high deficits. Protective factors included the female sex, more siblings, a positive family environment, and maternal psychosocial well-being. The study emphasizes the potential benefits of improving maternal well-being and family support for children in such circumstances.
