This cohort study investigates the utilization of reproductive health care services among adolescents with developmental disabilities, specifically autism, compared to typically developing adolescents. The study findings reveal that those with developmental disabilities are more likely to have menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome. Additionally, they are less likely to visit OB/GYNs or use hormonal contraception, highlighting potential care disparities. Efforts to enhance reproductive healthcare access for adolescents with developmental disabilities should address both pediatric and OB/GYN settings.
