A scoping review examined the evidence for macronutrient guidelines in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) by analyzing 98 studies from 757 records. Key outcomes—such as dietary intake, health, and metabolic changes—were mapped across treatment types, highlighting protein supplementation and food-focused diets as promising areas for guideline development. However, gaps in evidence persist, leaving current clinical practice reliant on consensus. This study underscores the need for more research to support robust macronutrient recommendations in MBS nutrition care.
