Results from the pivotal LUNA 3 phase 3 study have highlighted the potential of rilzabrutinib as a promising treatment for immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Administered orally at 400 mg twice daily, rilzabrutinib demonstrated significant efficacy in achieving durable platelet response in adults with persistent or chronic ITP, particularly in those who were refractory to prior therapy. The study, which included patients with a median of four prior ITP treatments, showed a clinically and statistically significant improvement compared to placebo. Rilzabrutinib's safety profile was consistent with previous studies. With its dual mechanisms targeting platelet destruction and autoantibody production, rilzabrutinib holds promise for addressing various complications of ITP.
