Risk Factors and CCTA Diagnosis in T2DM Patients with Vulnerable Coronary Plaques: A Retrospective Study

The study addresses the heightened cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and aims to identify factors contributing to vulnerable coronary plaques (VCPs) associated with adverse cardiovascular events. The study retrospectively analyzed 98 T2DM patients who underwent coronary CT angiography (CCTA) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS). Among T2DM patients, time in range (TIR) and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) concentration correlated with a decreased VCP risk, while triglycerides (TG) concentration correlated with an increased risk. Combined TIR, HDL-C, and TG analysis demonstrated enhanced predictive accuracy. CCTA exhibited high sensitivity and specificity in VCP diagnosis, aligning closely with IVUS findings. TIR, HDL-C, and TG warrant focused attention in T2DM patient care.
