Risk factors associated with vitamin D deficiency in preterm neonates: a single-center step-wise regression analysis

Vitamin D deficiency poses risks for pregnant women and their babies, particularly those born prematurely. This study examined vitamin D levels in very preterm and moderately preterm newborns and explored the influential factors. Maternal vitamin D levels strongly correlated with neonatal levels, while other factors like maternal age and delivery method showed no significant impact. The study concluded that low vitamin D levels in pregnant mothers are linked to deficiencies in their preterm neonates, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive vitamin D supplementation plans during pregnancy for improved health outcomes.
