
In a multicenter retrospective cohort study evaluating the risk factors for Microshunt failure in glaucoma patients, 250 eyes from 220 consecutive patients underwent Microshunt implantation at six glaucoma units. Success rates, varying from 43.3% to 62.5%, were observed at a 1-year follow-up based on different intraocular pressure (IOP) criteria. Higher intraoperative Mitomycin C (MMC) concentration was linked to reduced failure risk (0.4 vs 0.2 mg/mL: Hazard ratio [HR]: 0.441, p<0.001). Pseudoexfoliation glaucoma, pigmentary glaucoma, primary angle closure glaucoma, previous non-glaucomatous ocular surgeries, lower preoperative IOP, higher preoperative antiglaucoma agents, and Microshunt combined with cataract surgery were identified as risk factors.
