This study identified factors contributing to the fear of recurrence (FoR) in head and neck cancer survivors and its impact on their quality of life. A survey among 101 disease-free survivors revealed that 36.6% experienced elevated FoR. Female sex, younger age, and a history of cancer recurrence or second primary malignancy were associated with higher FoR scores. Treatment modality and tumor stage did not show significant associations. Patients who preferred intensive follow-up plans and systematic imaging had higher FoR scores. The study emphasizes the need to address FoR in clinical practice and future research.
