A study in Southwestern Oromia, Ethiopia, assessed the treatment outcomes of 226 rifampicin-resistant or multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (RR/MDR-TB) patients treated between 2013 and 2022. While 82.3% of pulmonary patients achieved favorable outcomes, 17.7% faced unfavorable results, including treatment failure, loss to follow-up, and death. Key risk factors for unfavorable outcomes included HIV infection, previous TB treatment, and low baseline BMI. The findings highlight the need for targeted interventions for these at-risk groups to improve treatment success rates in RR/MDR-TB patients.
