The study revealed that first-line treatment with rituximab plus prednisone for pemphigus resulted in superior long-term outcomes compared to prednisone alone. Of the evaluated patients, 93% in the rituximab group achieved complete remission without corticosteroids, with significantly longer 5- and 7-year disease-free survival (76.7% and 72.1%) compared to the prednisone-alone group (35.3% for both). Rituximab-treated patients also experienced fewer relapses and adverse events.
