Roche and Alnylam reported positive results from the Phase II KARDIA-2 study of zilebesiran, an RNAi therapeutic for hypertension. The study enrolled 672 adults with mild-to-moderate hypertension, utilising zilebesiran's RNAi mechanism to target angiotensinogen for durable blood pressure reduction. Zilebesiran, in combination with standard hypertension medication, demonstrated a significant reduction in systolic blood pressure at month three, meeting the primary endpoint. With encouraging safety and tolerability, zilebesiran offers the potential for sustained blood pressure control with twice-yearly dosing, aiming to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events associated with hypertension.
