This study explored the link between aldosterone levels and left ventricular (LV) remodelling following acute myocardial infarction (MI). Results showed that higher post-MI aldosterone concentration was associated with significant LV volume increase at 6-month follow-up, even in patients with LV ejection fraction above 40%. This indicates the potential role of mineralocorticoid systems in post-MI adverse remodelling.
