Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) significantly impacts infant health globally, leading to severe respiratory infections. This study analyzed healthcare resource utilization and costs for infants under one year old with confirmed RSV infections in South Korea from January 2017 to April 2022. Among the 31,206 infants analyzed, 76.3% required intensive care, with unhealthy preterm infants facing the highest average treatment costs ($6,325). The study highlights substantial economic burdens and increased costs during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need for effective prevention policies.
