The study assessed the subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (S-ICD) in obese and non-obese patients. Findings from 29 studies (20,486 patients) showed no significant difference in BMI between screening outcomes. Obesity correlated with higher defibrillation test failures and positioning issues. Higher BMI increased defibrillation thresholds and complication risks but showed no significant rise in inappropriate shocks. The study highlights S-ICD's efficacy in obesity, emphasizing technical challenges and safety considerations.
