The WHO’s Safe Childbirth Checklist (SCC) improves adherence to evidence-based practices and maternal health. This meta-analysis of 16 studies shows a 65% increase in adherence to critical birth practices, particularly danger sign counseling and pre-eclampsia management. The use of SCC also shows moderate evidence for reducing stillbirths (RR 0.89, P = 0.034). Strengthening the use of SCC could enhance the quality of care and reduce preventable complications during childbirth.
