Valbenazine, a selective vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) inhibitor, was evaluated for the treatment of chorea associated with Huntington's disease. The phase 3 clinical trial, KINECT-HD, involved 128 participants with genetically confirmed Huntington's disease and chorea. They were randomly assigned to receive either valbenazine or a placebo for 12 weeks. The primary endpoint was the change in chorea severity measured by the Unified Huntington's Disease Rating Scale (UHDRS). Valbenazine demonstrated a significant improvement in chorea compared to placebo. The most common adverse event was somnolence. No clinically important changes in vital signs, electrocardiograms, or laboratory tests were observed. Further research is needed to establish the long-term safety and efficacy of valbenazine for Huntington's disease-related chorea.

Current care emphasizes diagnosis, limited targeted testing, disease monitoring and stepwise treatment, beginning with second-generation H1-antihistamines and up-dosing when needed. Omalizumab and newer therapies such as dupilumab and remibrutinib expand options for refractory disease, while future care may be guided by biomarkers and disease endotypes.

A retrospective study of 33 women with postpartum hemorrhage during cesarean delivery found that uterine compression sutures achieved hemostasis in 69.7% of cases.
