A multinational observational study explored the periconceptional use of second-line noninsulin antidiabetic medications in pregnant individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D). Analyzing data from Nordic countries, the US, and Israel, the study found an increasing trend in exposure. While malformation rates varied, no significant increase in major congenital malformations (MCMs) was observed, providing reassurance about the safety of these medications, though the need for continuous monitoring and further studies is emphasized.
