Safety of PDT in Obese Critically Ill Adults: Study Overview

This study evaluates the safety and efficacy of percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) in critically ill adults with varying obesity levels. Analyzing 336 cases from two centers, it found similar overall complication rates between obese and non-obese patients. Class I, II, and III obesity groups had complication rates of 8.9%, 13.3%, and 13.3%, respectively. The study highlights PDT's effectiveness in obese patients without significant mortality risk.
