The study aimed to find a more convenient and less time-consuming method for diagnosing retinal breaks in patients with posterior vitreous detachment (PVD). A prospective double-blind observational case study was conducted with 128 patients, and the results showed that routine clinical examination is still the only valid method for detecting retinal tears. However, ultra-wide-field camera (UWFC) imaging is a promising method for the future. Sensitivity values for UWFC images were 0.79-0.89, and specificity values were 0.86-0.93.
