Second‐trimester growth velocities in twin and singleton pregnancies

This study aimed to compare second‐trimester growth velocities of individual anatomic parameters in a larger sample size between monochorionic‐diamniotic twins (MCDA), dichorionic‐diamniotic twins (DCDA), and singleton fetuses. Expanding on prior work using IGA, the study found that second‐trimester growth velocity for the four major anatomic parameters was overall similar between twins and singletons and between monochorionic and dichorionic twins, supporting the use of singleton‐derived growth standards with IGA. Twin growth potential appears to be similar to singletons in the second trimester, suggesting that subsequent growth divergence may be due to third‐trimester physiologic or pathologic changes.
